Tom Lane is a Buffalo, New York transplant to Louisville. A multi-sport athlete in Buffalo’s Catholic school system, he quickly found a home in the Louisville Catholic community.
Tom has been with the WDRB sports department since 1990, serving as a sports reporter, photographer and anchor.
His three children went to St.Raphael and then to St. Xavier and Assumption. Tom coached for almost 20 years in the CSAA ranks.
Terry Meiners is one of Louisville's leading media personalities and longtime, top-rated
afternoon host on News Radio 840 WHAS.
As a graduate of St.Stephen Martyr
and St. Xavier High School, Terry will speak on how the Catholic faith, the Catholic community, and its athletic traditions have impacted his career, family,
and life.
The Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame is recognized as one of the premier Hall of Fame's in the country and we are proud to celebrate our 11th induction ceremony on Monday, February 24th, 2025.
It's a night to honor and pay tribute to a select group of men and women who excelled on and off the courts and fields as athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors in the Louisville Catholic Sports community.
The Edwin and Bernadine Nord Family
Edwin and Bernadine were blessed with 11 children thus leading to one of Louisville’s most storied Catholic families. Those 11 children laid a foundation of faith, education, community service, and athletics that earned them the Howard Schnellenberger Family Award. It is said that a Nord attended every Catholic
grade school and high school in Louisville and played every CSAA sport.
The Edwin and Bernadine family tree has produced entrepreneurs, highly successful athletes in multiple sports at the high school and collegiate levels, Teachers, school administrators, business professionals, referees and umpires, government employees, and assistant and head football coaches at the university level.
Rick Heim
Rick Heim recently retired from his coaching and teaching position at Sacred Heart Academy after 33 years. He served as the Valkryies' Cross Country Coach.
Rick guided his Cross Country teams to seven State Championships and three runner-up titles. Additionally, his teams won 11 regional titles, seven individual State Championships, and a Track and Field State Championship. He received multiple Coach of the Year honors during his career. In 2014, Rick was named National Cross Country Coach of the Year, High School’s Cross Country’s most esteemed recognition.
Rick is also being honored with the Hall of Fame’s
prestigious Courage in Faith Award that recognizes an individual who has
overcome obstacles in life or is currently fighting adversity.
In 1986, Rick was severly injured in a car accident that left him in a coma for nearly two months. He was fortunate to recover from a traumatic brain injury sustained during the accident.
Rick is now fighting his toughest battle as
he was recently diagnosed with cancer of the duodenum (small intestine) and
pancreas and is currently undergoing treatment. Rick’s courage and strong faith is an inspiration to all.
Deacon Greg Gitschier
Deacon Greg is the first recipient of the Contributor Award,
established in memory of Paul P. Karem. The honor is bestowed upon an individual who has embodied the characteristics of a mentor, volunteer, competitor, leader, and supporter of athletics and a strong Catholic faith.
Deacon Greg played football at the University of Louisville. Post college, he joined the LMPD, before becoming a member of the United States Secret Service. During his 22-year tenure, he protected five Presidents and Pope John Paul II. His service to the Pope strengthened his faith and led him to become a Deacon.
Deacon Greg serves the St. Patrick Catholic community while managing his business that provides personal protection, self-defense programs, and, security consulting.
Steven Tompkins graduated from Trinity High School in 1981, where he played baseball. He continued his academic and baseball career at the University of Louisville.
After graduating from UofL, Steven returned to Trinity and served as an administrator, Spanish teacher, golf coach, Director of Sports Ministry, and varsity baseball coach. In

After graduating from UofL, Steven returned to Trinity and served as an administrator, Spanish teacher, golf coach, Director of Sports Ministry, and varsity baseball coach. In his 12 years as the varsity baseball coach, he led the Rocks to multiple district titles and three regional titles. He compiled a 282-138 record.
He was also a baseball umpire, and a football and basketball referee for the KHSAA and NAIA.
Steven passed away in 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chuck was the Cross Country Coach and Track and Field Coach at St. Xavier High School for 21 years.
Chuck led his Cross Country teams to 10 State Championships and four runner-up titles. His Track and Field teams won four State Championships.
Chuck is the 3rd most winningest coach in
St. X athletic history. In addition to his incredible success as a coach, Chuck
taught at St. X for 32 years.
George "Moe" Demling is a Louisville golf legend. Moe graduated from Trinity High School in 1960, where he led the Rocks to their first State Golf Championship.
His golf career continued to flourish after high school. Moe took his golf talents to the state-wide amateur level and won multiple Championship titles. He later joined the Profes

His golf career continued to flourish after high school. Moe took his golf talents to the state-wide amateur level and won multiple Championship titles. He later joined the Professional circuit as an Assistant Playing Professional and won multiple tournaments.
Additionally, Moe won the Kentucky
Open and has made appearances in the PGA and US Open Championships.
Moe returned to Louisville and became a head pro at multiple public courses in the Louisville Metro. He has mentored a countless number of golfers that have went on to professional PGA playing, coaching, and club professional
careers.
Known as a passionate promoter and teacher of the game, Moe was a pioneer in the development of the First Tee program.
Carrie Urton McCaw was a multi-sport athlete at St. Raphael, and went on to Assumption High School and played basketball and volleyball. Carrie excelled in volleyball and played on multiple State Championship teams throughout her high school career.
Carrie was recruited to play volleyball at Syracuse University. During her four years, she

Carrie was recruited to play volleyball at Syracuse University. During her four years, she set the school record for matches played in a season, was third in all-time assists, and earned All Conference Academic honors.
Post-college, Carrie became an assistant coach at Rutgers University before moving back home to start a family. Carrie later served as a coach for multiple club volleyball teams.
Her daughter Kacey McCaw, twin sister of Jessie, was a multi-sport athlete at St. Raphael- playing soccer, basketball and volleyball.
On February 14, 2020, Carrie and Kacey, as well as family friends Leslie Prather and her daughter, Rhyan, tragically lost their lives in a car accident while on their way to a volleyball tournament in Kansas City.
Carrie and Kacey’s family, faith, sports, and the Catholic community were everything to them. Carrie and Kacey shared a life together and will now be inducted together.
Katie Roalofs Yann was a multi-sport athlete at St. Bernard grade school and played on numerous city championship teams. She attended Mercy
Academy and played softball, basketball, and volleyball all four years before graduating in 1992.

She started left field for the Mercy Varsity softball team as a freshman. She ultimately won State Titles on the volleyball and basketball teams. Katie was selected to play on various All Tournament teams, and was selected to play for the Kentucky All Star basketball and volleyball teams.
Katie received a basketball scholarship to St. Louis University. She ultimately returned home
where she coached volleyball and basketball.
