Tom Lane is a Buffalo, New York transplant to Louisville. A multi-sport athlete in Buffalo’s Catholic school system, he quickly found a home in the Louisville Catholic community.
Tom has been with the WDRB sports department since 1990, serving as a sports reporter, photographer and anchor.
His three children went to St.Raphael and then to St. Xavier and Assumption. Tom coached for almost 20 years in the CSAA ranks.

As a graduate of St.Stephen Martyr
and St. Xavier High School, Terry will speak on how the Catholic faith, the Catholic community, and its athletic traditions have impacted his career, family,
and life.
The Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame is recognized as one of the premier Hall of Fame's in the country and we are proud to celebrate our 11th induction ceremony on Monday, February 24th, 2025.
It's a night to honor and pay tribute to a select group of men and women who excelled on and off the courts and fields as athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors in the Louisville Catholic Sports community.
The Edwin and Bernadine Nord Family
Edwin and Bernadine were blessed with 11 children, thus leading to one of Louisville’s most storied Catholic families. Those 11 children laid a foundation of faith, education, community service, and athletics that has earned them the Howard Schnellenberger Family Award. It is believed that a Nord attended every Catholic grade school and high school in Louisville and played every CSAA sport.
Edwin and Bernadine Nord’s large family tree has produced entrepreneurs, highly successful athletes in multiple sports at the high school and collegiate levels, teachers, school administrators, business professionals, referees and umpires, government employees, high school coaches, and assistant and head football coaches at the university level.
Rick Heim
Rick Heim, a graduate of Trinity High School, is a teacher at Sacred Heart Academy. He served as the Valkyries' Cross Country Coach, recently retiring after 33 years.
Rick guided his Cross Country teams to seven State Championships and three runner-up titles, plus eleven regional titles, seven individual state championships, and a Track and Field state championship.
He received multiple Coach of the Year honors, including High School Cross Country’s most esteemed recognition when he was named National Girl’s Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2014.
Rick is also being honored with the Hall of Fame’s prestigious Courage in Faith Award that recognizes an individual who has overcome obstacles in life or is currently fighting adversity.
Rick was severely injured in a car accident in 1986 in which he was in a coma for nearly two months and overcame a traumatic brain injury. Rick is now fighting his toughest battle as he was recently diagnosed with cancer of the duodenum (small intestine) and pancreas and is undergoing treatment. Rick’s courage and strong faith is an inspiration to all.

Deacon Greg Gitschier
Deacon Greg Gitschier is the first recipient of the Contributor Award that has been established in memory of Paul P. Karem. The honor is bestowed upon an individual who embodies the characteristics of a mentor, volunteer, competitor, leader, and supporter of athletics and a strong Catholic faith.
Deacon Greg played football at the University of Louisville, and then joined the LMPD, where he served until becoming a 22 year member of the United States Secret Service. He ultimately protected six Presidents, visiting Heads of State, and Pope John Paul II. It was his service to the Pope that strengthened his faith and led him to become a Deacon.
Deacon Greg has an unmatched life of giving back, and currently serves the St. Patrick Catholic community and Mass of the Air, while managing his business that provides personal protection, self-defense programs, and corporate security consulting.
Deacon Greg and his wife, Tracey, have three children.
Steven Tompkins graduated from Trinity High School in 1981, where he played baseball. He continued his academic and baseball career at the University of Louisville.
After graduating from UofL, Steven would return to Trinity and serve as an administrator, Spanish teacher, golf coach, Director of Sports Ministry, and varsity baseball coach.

After graduating from UofL, Steven would return to Trinity and serve as an administrator, Spanish teacher, golf coach, Director of Sports Ministry, and varsity baseball coach. He led the Rocks to multiple district titles and three regional titles. In his twelve years as the varsity baseball coach, he compiled
a 282-138 record.
He was also a baseball umpire, football and basketball referee for the KHSAA, NAIA, CSAA, and other leagues.
Steven passed away in 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Missy, and their three children.
Chuck Medley, a graduate of DeSales High School, served as assistant coach and head coach for the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at Saint Xavier High School for 30 years.

Medley has won a combined 25 regional titles. As the Track and Field coach, his team won three state championships.
Chuck is the third most winningest coach in St. X athletic history. In addition to his incredible success as a coach, he taught at St. X for 32 years.
Chuck and his wife, Wendy, have two children.
George “Moe” Demling is a Louisville golf legend. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1960, where he led the Rocks to their first state golf championship during his senior year.
After high school, Moe took his golf talents to the statewide amateur level, winning multiple championships. He then joined the Professional circuit as a Pla

After high school, Moe took his golf talents to the statewide amateur level, winning multiple championships. He then joined the Professional circuit as a Playing Professional, where he won multiple tournaments. Moe also won the Kentucky Open and had appearances in the PGA and US Open Championships.
He got his first Head Club Pro position at Shawnee Golf Course. He’d ultimately become Head Pro at multiple public courses in the Louisville metro. He has taught thousands and mentored countless golfers who went on to professional PGA playing, coaching, and club professional careers.
Known as a passionate promoter and teacher of the game- Moe was a pioneer in providing lessons to underprivileged children, which helped lead to the development of the First Tee program.
Moe and his wife, Dee, have four children.
Carrie Urton McCaw was a multi-sport athlete at St. Raphael, then went on to Assumption High School where she played basketball and volleyball. It was on the volleyball court that Carrie excelled, playing on multiple state championship teams.

Carrie was recruited to Syracuse University, where she played volleyball for four years. She set the school record for matches played in a season, was third in all-time assists, and earned All Conference Academic honors.
She was the assistant coach at Rutgers University before moving back home to start a family. Carrie later served as a coach for KIVA and multiple club volleyball teams.
Her daughter Kacey McCaw, twin sister of Jessie, was a multi-sport athlete at St. Raphael- playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
On February 14, 2020, Carrie and Kacey, as well as family friends Lesley and her daughter, Rhyan Prather, were tragically killed in a car accident while traveling to a volleyball tournament in Kansas City.
Carrie and Kacey’s family, faith, sports, and the Catholic community were everything to them. Carrie and Kacey shared a life together and will now be inducted together.
Carrie and her husband, David, have four children.
Katie Roalofs Yann attended St. Bernard grade school, where she played multiple sports and was on numerous city championship teams.
Katie graduated from Mercy Academy High School in 1992. She was a four year athlete playing softball, basketball, and volleyball.

Her freshman year, she started left field for the Mercy Varsity softball team. Katie would ultimately win state titles with the volleyball and basketball teams.
Katie was selected to play on various All Tournament teams, and was chosen for the prestigious Kentucky Girl’s All Star basketball and volleyball teams.
Katie received a basketball scholarship to St. Louis University. She ultimately returned home where she coached volleyball and basketball.
Katie and her husband, Jeff, have five children.
