These individuals and families have made a lasting impact on Catholic athletics in the Louisville area. They include standout athletes, dedicated coaches, influential athletic administrators, and devoted contributors whose excellence and commitment have shaped the local sports culture.

Mel and Norma Meiners dedicated their lives to raising their 14 children in a strong, faith-filled Catholic home. Together, they became well-known for their devotion to their faith and their leadership in pro-family and pro-life causes.
All 14 of their children attended Catholic grade school and high school, where they excelled both on and off the fields and courts. They have continued to find success both personally and professionally as parents, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and media personalities.
Today, the Meiners family legacy continues to grow, with 46 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren carrying on Mel and Norma’s values of faith, family, and service.

Kaelin Rybak has made a remarkable impact on both the Louisville community and Bellarmine University, where she has proudly served for more than 50 years and over 1,500+ games as a member of the stats crew for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams. In addition to her long-standing work behind the scenes, Kaelin is known for performing the National Anthem before many games.
A true Bellarmine legend, Kaelin was inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame in 2009. Over the years, she has mentored countless students and student-athletes, served on the BU Board of Overseers and BU Boosters, and many other university initiatives, all while co-founding and operating one of the region’s most successful travel agencies, Knights Travel.
Fun Fact: Kaelin is the daughter of the late Ed Kallay, the legendary WAVE TV Sports Director and Anchor who was a fixture in Louisville sports broadcasting.

Elizabeth Campbell Moir attended Holy Spirit and Sacred Heart Academy, where she was a standout basketball player from 2003–2007. She was a member of the 2004 State Championship team, and during her senior year, was a first team All-State player and selected as a 2007 Kentucky All-Star.
She continued her basketball career at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she was named to the Patriot League All-Freshman Team. She later transferred to the University of Kentucky to be closer to her family and roots. There she starred on the National Championship basketball club team. In 2020, Elizabeth was inducted into the Sacred Heart Academy All of Fame.
In 2014, Elizabeth married her husband, Michael, and became a proud mom of two daughters. In 2019, she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. Throughout her two-year battle, Elizabeth became a powerful advocate for lung cancer awareness and research.
Elizabeth passed away on August 27, 2021, at the age of 32, leaving behind her husband and two young daughters who were under the age of five. Her inspirational story remains a testament to her unwavering positivity, courage, and faith.

Teri Connelly Campisano graduated from Assumption High School in 1991 and was inducted into the inaugural Assumption Athletic Hall of Fame class in 2004. She was a talented multi-sport athlete, competing in softball, basketball, and soccer, but was best known as a stand-out field hockey player, earning All-American honors twice.
Teri went on to play collegiately at Kent State and earned All Freshman honors in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). She was named MAC Player of the Year as a senior in 1995. In 2001, she was inducted to the Kent State Hall of Fame. Teri currently teaches mathematics at Assumption.

Joe Kroh, father of fellow inductee Ashley Kroh, graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1961. Joe was a member of the 1957-58 Louisville City championship basketball team, and led St. X to back-to-back Cross Country state championships in 1959-1960. During his senior year, he won the individual state championship and broke school records in both the mile and two-mile events.
Joe earned a scholarship to Seton Hall University, where he helped lead the Seton Hall Cross Country Program to national prominence as Metro Conference champions and NCAA championship contenders. He later returned to St. Xavier to teach and coach cross country before becoming the head tennis coach. Over the course of 28 years as head tennis coach, he guided St. X to 18 Kentucky State team championships and seven state runner-ups. He was named Kentucky High School Coach of the Year eight times and National Coach of the Year twice. More than 100 of his players continued on to compete at the collegiate level.
These accomplishments are in addition to his extensive coaching and playing success beyond St. Xavier. Joe is a member of the St. X Hall of Fame, the KHSAA Hall of Fame, and the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame. He retired in 2022 after a 54-year teaching career at St. X.

Ashley Kroh, daughter of fellow inductee Joe Kroh, one of Louisville’s most accomplished female tennis athletes, is a 2001 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She was a four-year starter for the Valkyries, winning the 1999 state doubles championship, the 2001 regional singles championship, and led SHA to regional championships in 2000 and 2001, and a state runner-up finish in 2001. Ashley was selected to the Kentucky All-State Team all four years of her high school career and was a two-time All-American.
After SHA, Ashley continued her tennis career at NCAA’s Marshall University, and again was a starter all four years. She helped lead the team to four consecutive Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships. Ashley was named MAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, Marshall’s Female Athlete of the Year, and went undefeated in singles play in 2005. She was later iinducted into the Marshall University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Jerry King attended St. Columba Grade School, and later attended Flaget High School, where he played football and basketball. He ultimately dedicated his talents to basketball, becoming the city’s leading scorer his senior year with 24.5 points per game, was a Prep All-American, and received First Team All-State recognition in 1965.
Jerry was recruited by Coach Frank Dromo to play basketball at the University of Louisville. He was a three-year starting forward, and served as co-captain of the 1968-69 team alongside Butch Beard. Following his collegiate career, Jerry was drafted by both the NBA’s Seattle SuperSonics and the ABA’s Denver Rockets.
He was inducted into the University of Louisville Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993 and is a member of the Cardinals’ 1,000-Point Club, finishing his career with 1,189 points.

Steve Raible attended Our Mother of Good Counsel, and is a 1972 graduate of Trinity High School, where he ran track and played football under Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame coach Jim Kennedy. As a senior, he earned Kentucky All-State honors along with multiple postseason honors.
Steve continued his football career at Georgia Tech on an athletic scholarship, playing tight end and receiver. After graduation, he was drafted by the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and went on to play six seasons as a receiver, becoming a fan favorite.
Following his playing career, Steve joined the Seahawks radio broadcast team, first as a color analyst, and later as the play-by-play voice of the franchise. He also went on to join KIRO TV where he became an Emmy Award winning sports reporter and news anchor. Steve is a member of the State of Washington's Sports Hall of Fame, Trinity’s Hall of Fame, and was the first Trinity football alumnus to join the NFL professional ranks.
